I just couldn’t resist painting this charming scene when I saw the picture on Pixabay (copyright free website in case you didn’t know). I cropped it to make the dog the focal point and to tell a story. Painted on my favourite paper Arches NOT. This paper gives a good texture for dry brush work, but is smooth enough for detail when needed.
This is ‘Rainy Day In New York City’ an oil on canvas. It’s been many years since I painted in oils and I was inspired by a recent workshop I attended with the Southwest Artist Colin Pethick. I decided after that workshop to do a series of rainy scenes in oil with loads of reflections. This is number 2.
